The Empower Building Project – For Children, Families and Communities 

The YMCA of Cape Breton’s Empower Building Capital Campaign is raising $10.0 million for the redevelopment of its main branch, located at 399 Charlotte Street, Sydney, Nova Scotia.

The project will see a total redevelopment of the YMCA site.  A new facility will increase the capacity for the organization and lead to a stronger and healthier community for Cape Breton.

The construction of our new YMCA facility will be completed in three phases and take approximately two and a half years.  The YMCA occupies a prime corner lot and by using the total footprint of this city block, the YMCA will revitalize downtown Sydney.  This phased project will minimize disruption of programs and services.
